Bonza mate....
Oman? sounds exciting !!
With the "economic downturn" you should be able to screw those travel agents for a good deal. Play them off against each other....is my advice !
Take care mate
Cheers Jim

Hi Jim, sorry I've not answered sooner but been away in Oman plus a few other things. Up to now we've got 53 for the reunion and names are still dribbling in. So all being well it should be a well turned out do.
We are now haggling the price with some of the tour operators.
We'll see how it goes, but it still won't be cheap.
Will let you know re deleting the ad for the trip when we've got enough.
All the best

Hi Tony
Everything is just "apples" here mate.
Been busy setting up Derek's site for Ruck. Had to make some adjustments. Ruck has been busy of late doing some community assistance for an elderly couple who are moving home.
We'll hopefully have some additional photos on the site before too long so keep popping in when you can.
How is your "reunion on Gan" bookings going? Once you reach "fully booked" let me know so I can delete the message on both mine and Derek's site.
Take care mate....nice to hear from you.
Jim Aitken

Hi Jim, I haven't heard from you for quite a while. I hope everything is ok with you mate?

Ruck served with Derek at Chia Keng......welcome Ruck
Cheers

That's a good idea Jim, just someone from his group to administer the site would be great. Even someone else who is willing to take it on that has an interest etc..
We'll see how it goes once the family recover in a few weeks time.

A great shock Tony.
I suppose we should be conditioned to expect these sorts of things considering our "era" but it still comes as a shock when it happens.
We are in touch with Pam to see if the site can be continued. I am happy to "caretake" until we can find a "volunteer" from Derek's group that served at RAF Chia Keng, who would be prepared to administer the site. It is already full of interesting stuff but someone needs to monitor the Guestbook.
Cheers mate
Jim

Hi Jim, I was just as shocked as you to learn of Dereks passing. I have corresponded with him for quite a long time and was a regular visitor to his website.
He will be sadly missed by a lot of people. I just hope that his website is left on line as tribute to him and all his hard.
God bless Derek.

Hi Jim. I do not have a web site but as it happens I did put together an account of my time in the RAF. I could send a copy of it to your e-mail addy if this is acce[table to you. By the way remind me of your e-mail addy. Mine is - mike@michaelbrogan.wanadoo.co.uk Sorry to hear about the loss of your good friend Derek. As a friend of mine about the same age as me keeps
saying "They are taking them out of our pen now" Cheers for now. Mike
SPECIAL NOTICE
It is with much sorrow that I have to advise of the recent death of Derek Lehrle of Te Aroha New Zealand.
Derek's website was a part of my RAF Ring and covered his time spent at RAF Kia Cheng, a signals unit on Singapore Island.
Derek was much involved with ex service sites and had a great love for Singapore.
A celebration of Derek's life is being held on April 17th at his hometown. Although a "lad from Warrington" in Lancashire, he loved his new home in New Zealand.
Messages of condolence can be sent to his wife Pam and son Robin and family at the below address......
lehrle@slingshot.co.nz
He will be missed deeply by me personally.

Hi Mike
Glad you found the site of such interest.
Yes it was a bit of a labour of love putting the Cruise details up but it worked out well. Instead of having to relate all the details to friends and acquaintances time after time, I just refer them to the website !!
Although set up initially to recount my RAF experiences in Air Movements, the site has sort of morphed into a bit of a personal blog. Still....no one is forced to read the personal stuff if they aren't interested.
OK Mike.....now where is your website? I want to read some stuff about you !!
It's not hard mate to put a site together with Webs and the best bit is it's totally free !
Cheers
Jim

Just revisited your site. WOW you sure did put some work into puting details of your South East Asia Cruise on the site. Very interesting - it must have taken hours and your wife must really understand you ! I have to say that the content and breadth of your site makes really interesting reading- the best yet. Will surly revisit . Also planning revisit to Melbourne in 2010. Cheers Mate
