Interesting experience Bob. Sir Barnes Wallis was "legendised" in the film The Dambusters.

I have added an excerpt from that film coutesy YouTube to my Videos page.

But wait....there's more ! I have sent you a presentation of Operation Chastise

that I did a little while ago. I just hope you are able to view it all.lol

Cheers

Jim

Just a bit of old `Air` interest for you lads out there. Last week  after my weekly night out absorbing a spot of nice jazz from a band I see reasonably regular, I was reliably informed that the clarinetest (trust I've spelt that right) was a James Wallis who is grandson to no other than Barnes Wallis of `Bouncing Bomb fame. Seems the band is based just over the Penines from my humble abode though not over far away from Ladybower resevoir where the `Bouncing Trials` took place. Cheers to all and don't over-indulge and miss Fire Picket duty over Xmas. BOB

0025Z 6/11/09. You see, that's the common sense answer that I never thought of, and it got me so embarassed that I put the wrong time on my message to Mikes site within the half hour.  So regardless of my folly I shall report back to HQ and tell you that the jazz  tonight was terrific, added to that a ready and gratis pub buffet of pork pies and sausage rolls had seemingly  help bolster me to receive your reply, which I shall muse on whilst having the supper that my dear wife left out for me prior to her retiring about 2300Z. 5/11. Will talk more once I have regained my dignity. Regards BOB

You have to remember that this site is USA based....not sure whether eastern or western side.

So the time recorded is based on Zulu local USA. and not on UTC.

0006Z 5thNov.Jim just posted that last note less than a minute ago and notice (as with Mikes site) that your `clock` is  some 5hrs in error (and I told Mike  `You maybe watching him`)  Take care BOB 0007Z 5/11/09

Hi Jim, Had a laugh at the `Red Sparrows` and having to study the `Giveaway` one, as that's another area I've done little with since getting the laptop, but regardless `thanks for thinking`.

I've just been reading an article (by a member of thepublic) commenting on how little is heard of any air power being used lately against the Taliban or anyone else infact in Afghanistan. As a layman I would think that carpet bombing against the foe is more than justified, after all we are not fighting an honourable enemy are we, so surely we should be thinking of our lads. Though maybe I should stay clear of politics.

HOORAY HOORAY  Our dustbins were emptied today ! and the result is in the air! Goodnight, Bob

Hi Jim. Noticed at 1900Z that the `Forces` site is back. So it took a goodly while to sort as it was still off yesterday. Mike I'm sure is glad of your continued help and advice particularly with his latest plans.

Just so as you can keep your records up to date I can inform you that we ain't had our dustbins emptied yet!!! But try not to worry about that ,regards BOBsad

Evening all, Just been reading Mike Brogans story in `Members Recollections` and wondered if any one of you out there had the same views as he with regards to the RAFP?  I'm going to put my thinking cap on, as at this moment I hardly recall even seeing `one` as I moved in and out of the varying camps, though in fact I did share a billet with them in Shetland without being hung. And believe me I was never a saint.  Whats your thoughts?? G'night BOB

Thanks for your efforts Jim. Can't understand why I didn't find that message so thank you again.

My Nephew informs me that the two latest typhoons to hit Taiwan have passed up the opposite side of the island as to where he is and didn't even interupt his golf, plus just as you said `His laptop is spot on` so something for our next trips eh?  Lovely to catch you `on line` ..It's such a small world aint it? Cheers Bob

Apologies for the continued downtime of Forces Reunited, unfortunately we've suffered a system failure which meant we had totake the site offline.

Hiya Jim now 2010hrs 23/10. Had a couple of goes just now to peep at the Forces Reunited site, and a security warning comes up denying access. Just wondered what you may make of it? Trust you and yours are keeping ok, must say it's been an effort to keep off the net but the writing is plodding nicely. Take care, Bob
